Hopes and Dreams

No matter what your hopes or dreams are, do not loose site of them. Whether it be to win the lottery or to live in your dream house. If you can visualize it and believe it, it will happen. Sometimes our subconscious thoughts will not allow us to have the things that we want, so when you are visualizing and believing REACH Deep with in. Meditate to clear those negatives and replace them with positives.

Don't let anyone steal your dreams. There are negative, close minded individuals that think that their reality should be every one's reality. They love to prove you wrong and throw out some realization approach, that can really bring you down. They do not realize, that dream of yours, no matter how big or small it is, may be your only hope of keeping going. We are powered by our hopes and dreams and when you come across some one, that does not know how to step out of their box, well it can drain you. Drain you of your hopes, dreams and ambitions that fuel you to the next day.

Life is not always an easy road for everyone. And one person's tragedy may be small in comparison to someone else's. A person that has never been in the dumps or living from pay check to paycheck will not understand why a person is so upset about something that happened in their life. It may be big to them and small to the other person. The person that thinks it is small could be shallow minded and inconsiderate to the person that thinks it is big.

It doesn't hurt to follow your hopes and dreams, but be wise about it. Let's say you wanted to buy a lottery ticket one day, with the hope of winning, and then some one tells you that you are not going to win. Don't you just want to slap the crap out of them? I do not believe that buying a zillion lottery tickets a week, is a smart and wise move, because if you believe and can visualize the win, then you only need one ticket to do so.

I decided to write this because of someone's post on Facebook. I do understand his point, that "some folks" that buy lottery tickets can be annoying, and take up time, when all you want to pay for is one item. I would have been annoyed myself by the way he described what happened, but it is what he said to her, that sort of bothered me. He was trying to make a point to her, but it was taking away her hopes and dreams and it wasn't his place to do so. She was on food stamps and no I do not agree with folks that mis use government assistance. This person should only buy one ticket instead of bunches every week, that is my opinion. That is not giving up on your hopes or dreams of winning the lottery, like I said earlier, if you really believe, you only need one ticket.

He proceeded to tell her that she would not win the lottery and was not ever going to win the lottery. My thought again is; it is not his place to drain her of what may be keeping her going from day to day. Playing the lottery may be the only happiness that she gets and he just took that happiness away. I still believe that if she is down and out and needing assistance; cutting down is one of those wise things to do, but it would not be my place to tell her so.

In life, we all have to make certain decisions to survive and cut back on the things that we often enjoy. Instead of going out dancing every weekend, I now only go every once in a while. I have friends that go out to eat every Friday night, I do not go. If I do go, I eat before hand and just hang out. But I still have my hopes and dreams! I use the extra time to focus and meditate on them. It has been an awesome journey with God and because of it, he continues to open many doors for me. I believe that Great things are happening and that they will continue to happen to me!

Be wise about your hopes and dreams and never loose site of them. Cut out a photo of the dream car or house that you want and put it in a place where you can see it every day. That will help you to visualize having it.

Girl Scout Speech

I was the guest speaker for the Rabun County Girl Scout Troops. And this is the speech that I presented to them. Hope you find it to be inspiring and up lifting. God Bless you!

Good Evening Girl Scouts! My name is Sonya Thompson and I was a girl scout a long time ago, being a girl scout carried on into my adult life in so many ways. I try to live by the Girl Scout Motto to always “be prepared” And the girl scout Law has always been incorporated into my daily life. I always try to compliment and do for others as I would want done to me.

I didn’t realize until years ago that my compliments meant so much to so many people that surrounded me. I often get messages from people on face book and other sites, telling me that I made a difference in their lives at some point or another. God places us where we are suppose to be and leads us on the paths that we are suppose to be on.

I have been on several different paths and I believe that God provides us with different opportunities. We just have to know which doors to open, all the way and which doors to leave cracked. We are not super human and can not do everything at one time. There are times, when things get in the way, but you have to remember that sometimes, as much as we may want something to happen right then, that it might not be in the plans, until later on in life.

I have a speed bump theory about life. When approaching a speed bump always slow down and take the time to figure out the best way of going over it. When going over it slowly, then you are able to deal with the speed bump in a intelligent and wise way. If you go over the speed bumps to quickly, well then you have to deal with consequences. The shocks in your car are then at that point, messed up and there is always that possibility that the tire could blow out. Now do keep in mind that some times speed bumps show up, so quickly, that we do not have time to go over them slowly.

Use the same principle in life, when a problem arises, don’t just hurry passed it, take the time to deal with it and move on. Its done, its finished. If you deal with a problem too quickly, well then you might have a blow out and the problem will get worse, before it will get better. And if by chance a challenge happens without notice, then deal with it the best that you can and know that it will get better, as long as you are always “prepared” to jump into action at a moments notice.

Knowledge is power and having knowledge is what helps us to achieve our dreams and reach our goals. Without knowledge, we wouldn’t even know how to tie our shoes. Do not limit your self. I came up with a slogan about 6 years ago. “The world is my canvas and I am ready to paint“. Meaning that I was ready to live life each day and enjoy all that the universe has to offer me. At that point, something incredible began to happen.

So many doors that I thought had completely slammed shut, began to crack open. I felt that God was pushing me inside and telling me not to fear my dreams, but to live them. So I did. I learned how to Kayak. Now that is one of my favorite pass times. It is so relaxing to be on the river, surrounded by so much nature. I love going over the rapids, but also leaning back during the calm waters and letting all of God’s work absorb with in me.
I love adventure and I believe that is why I joined the Girl Scouts years ago. I learned so much about hiking and camping and water proofing matches and so much about friendships and kindness.

Other things that I enjoy doing: white water rafting, drawing, singing, dancing, playing basketball, hiking, Zip lining, rock climbing, repelling, being a Massage therapist and also being an actor.

The last two, massage therapy and acting are passions of mine. Massage Therapy is very rewarding, I love helping others to get well. I have been a massage therapist for over 18 years. And within my career I have met and helped so many people. I have massaged pro wrestlers, Major league baseball players, such as Jeff Francore and David Estein, NFL players, Pro Cyclist, Olympians, Pro Tennis players such as John Isner. The list goes on, but one thing is the same with each of us. They work hard to achieve a higher goal of performance, while I was also working hard to help them achieve that higher goal of performance. Everyone needs assistance from time to time to achieve the goals that are in front of us. Its what you put into it, that achieves the results that you get.

My massage work is connected to my Acting. Keep in mind that, I have observed the greats in action. I have massaged high profile players but also high profile actors. Now that is not how I began my acting career. I have always been an entertainer. As a Child I wanted to sing and dance on broad way, that is still my dream and I know that one day that will happen. My dream gets closer every day.

But let me tell you how I got on the current path that I am on now. One day, I was working on a massage client and he was exhausted. So I asked him why he was so tired. And he replied that he had been working on a movie all night and would be at again that night. He caught my attention, so I asked, if I could bring my daughter by to watch. She is a brilliant actress and I wanted to expose her to a real live movie set. I was thinking, Maybe she could meet the right people, to send her in the right direction of an acting career. Yes I was being a mother, that is what mothers do, watch out for their kids and find outlets for them to be successful. So my client told me and her to come dressed as though we were going to a upscale formal wedding. I ran home and we got dressed, showed up on set and they immediately put us both right in front of the camera! WOW! The fire that was lit under me was the most amazing feeling that I had ever felt!! It was the same passion that I have for massage.

We ended up working three nights in a row and had the best time. Hanging out with Desmond Harrington from the movie Ghost Ship, Sunny Mabrey from the movie Snakes on a Plane, Kathleen Robertson from the original TV show 90210, she was the bad girl Claire. Barry Corbin was there. Will Estes from Law and Order and Elden Henson from The butterfly effect and Christian Kane, from Angel and Leverage, Sara Rue from the movie Pearl Harbor. There were several other movie stars there also and we were dancing and having fun with all of them.

I enjoyed it so much that I inquired about how to get started and one of the actors hooked me up with a casting agency in Atlanta and boom it began, Now I have an agent, an acting coach and vocal coach. I have been in movies such as the Blind side and Zombieland. I made it to that Zombieland DVD three times! I have worked on the hit TV show Drop Dead Diva for two seasons. I am not going to list all of the projects that I have been involved with, because there are so many. But I will tell you about a couple of my most recent projects. Now keep in mind that I had to sign a confidentiality agreement with one of these shows, so I am limited to certain things to discuss.

Not sure if you have every heard of the comic book called The Walking Dead, but I am a featured Zombie in the AMC TV series that will be premiering Halloween night at 10 pm. From my understanding, they are going to show all 6 episodes that night. They have used my image to promote the tv show all over the world. I am in issue #75, only four zombies from the show were chosen for this comic book and I was one of them. I am on T-shirts and buttons and tote bags. I have the comic book and t-shirt with me today. The process for make up took about an hour and a half. I worked 14-16 hour days on this show and did a lot of my own stunt work. Keep in mind that I am always in the same Green dress and cardigan.

The other project that I want to talk to you about is the movie More Than Diamonds. I went to the Red Carpet Premiere Thursday night in Greenville, SC. It was amazing and so I went back last night to see it again with my daughter and a few friends. I had about three lines in the movie and I also did one scene as a back ground actor. What was so cool after the movie both nights was having people come up to me and say “Hey you were the Lottery Ticket Customer”

Last night, was very special to me. I sat next to this ten year old little girl and her mother. As my scene played out on the big screen, I over heard the little girl tell her mom, “that’s her, that’s her mom.” She was so excited to be sitting next to me. At that moment, I felt not only a sense of accomplishment, but a sense of Purpose. I was able to make this little girl feel happiness and joy, without even saying a word to her. When the movie ended, I felt a little poke on my arm, so I turned to her and introduced myself. She told me how great I did and asked me what other things had I been involved with. I only listed a few things that I thought she would recognize. She is an actress, in the local theater in Greenville and wanted to know how to become a film actor. I told her and her mother to find an agency and follow her dream. She will be able to reach it one day, because I am able to see mine come closer every day.

I am not sure what more I can say, other than don’t limit your self to one special hobby or one dream. Expand your mind with knowledge and always be Prepared! I have spoke to many foundations in the past, but being a guest for the Girl Scouts of America is the most honor I have felt. And I thank you for this opportunity. Have a great night and be sure to follow your dreams!

Trying to renew....

As I read a friends post of feeling the need to start over and thought back to a time when I too was doing that. I reached out and gave the best advice I could give. She wrote that her job was stressful and sucked. I told her to find at least one positive about her job and focus in on that. Its all about changing the way that you look and feel emotionally about life. The more positives that you think about, the more your life changes.

If you continue to throw out negatives to the universe, whether it is on purpose or not, you will get more of the same back. This is what I want you to do: Imagine your self in a bubble of white light, that only allows positive in and keeps negative out. Take several deep breathes and close your eyes, visualizing that bubble of protective light surrounding you. Breathe in through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Now, think of a happy thought and let it flow through out your body. Can you feel it, all the way down to your toes? While doing this, remember to smile and see if your emotional state changes. Even if for those moments of meditation, you are only feeling a brief moment of happiness, you just added years to your life!

The more that you can visualize good in your life, the easier it becomes. Make it a daily ritual, when you first wake up and things are maybe at peace in the universe. You know, before you have time to dread that day of work? Take a few moments to visualize how wonderful your day is going to be and keep that smile on your face while doing so. If you can not seem to visualize a good work day, at least make it a happy memory that will make you feel good inside.

Not sure if any of this makes any sense, considering that I woke up at 2 am and could not sleep. Maybe I went to bed way too early or maybe God wanted me to get all of this down so others can live a better life. Not sure of the reason, but I am wide awake. The dog is looking at me funny, so I may try to at least lay in the bed and rest, or meditate on all the great things that God is providing for me right now.

Have a great day folks!

New column 101

Hello Blogger folks! I have re-posted all of my old columns that I could find. If I come across any more, I will add them. I was in my twenties when I wrote those columns for my monthly work newsletter called the PICA. Sometimes I had to edit my work down to fit the limited amount of space that was given to me. That took away from some of the valuable information that I wanted to pass on, but you have to do what you have to do sometimes.

I look back on what I wrote back then and most of it still holds true today. Always remember to smile and keep your confidence levels up. I truly believe in Karma. You get back what you put out there. Life is too short so enjoy what you can when you can. You are only as young as you feel.

I am planning on writing more on this blog when I can and hopefully all that is already here, will help in some way. God Bless you! And Smile!

Column Ten

Memories are such precious things. I have reflections of the past - the bad and the good; and all the things that I have learned. It's amazing how much a person can learn from a mistake, but life goes on.

The older we get, the more challenges that we face. At the same time, we are gaining wisdom. It's hard sometimes, but keep faith and believe in yourself. Weigh out your choices, or options, and pick the best one. In other words; pick the right road or you might get lost.

I've heard that if the road isn't rocky, you're not going the right way. You're probably taking the easiest way.

Life can pass by your eyes like a rocket. Children get older and you get older. I personally want to look back at the positive memories that make me laugh or smile. You've only got one shot at life, so take advantage of it. Have fun while you can. Enjoy the ones you love and make amends with the ones you disagree with. Time is short. Keep a good attitude and be happy. Fill yourself with joy and care about others. Compliment what others say and do. You can make a difference with your attitude.

Your joy reflects on others. So, remember to smile and have a splendid day! God Bless you!

Column Nine

Hello out there in Stess-land! I personally think that when a person is stressed, they contain a certain amount of anger inside them. Then, it is accidentally let out at others. It reflects a bad image of that person sometimes. That is where I think bad attitudes come from. When you are unhappy or stressed with the same ole' same ole', you tend to have a bad attitude.

Bad attitudes reflect so much negativity and insecureness. Your confidence disappears and you are held captive in a land far away from happiness. The only way to save yourself is to revamp your attitude toward yourself and life that surrounds you.

Remember that each day is a new day! Try to be optimistic and look at situations in a positive matter. Looking at things in a negative way only makes things worse. Remember to think first; you know, look before you leap. Don't assume something before fully analyzing the situation. That only puts unnecessary stress on you. Keep your focus on life and deal with it in a wise matter.

Striving to be the best that we can be is a goal set by the Army. That is a good thins to live by. Do the best that you can in life and be happy. No matter how much money a person has, it doesn't matter. It's how you feel on the inside that matters. What you have, is what you worked for. That makes all the difference in the world. Have faith in yourself and learn to love others, as God has loved you. Have a good day and remember to smile!

Column Eight

Does it really matter, how people view us? To an extent it does. Always be yourself, you'll go further in life. Be sure to make changes along the way.

Sometimes, people tend to run off the road a little bit. They fall into a hole and have a hard time getting out. Pride gets in the way of them reaching out for help. It's all right to have pride, but keep in mind that when you need help don't be ashamed to accept it. Take the bad with the good. There might be a time in life when you can help someone out of a bad situation.

We are not perfect. We can't expect anyone to be perfect. God made us that way. Just do the best that you can. Take life as it comes, you can't change every thing that happens. You can improve things around you and life easier. Sometimes that starts with having a good attitude and building up self-confidence.

Reach for your dreams and goals. Don't wait for someone to come along and take you away. In order to achieve your dreams and goals, you have to start from the bottom and work your way up.

Life's too short to play around. Have fun, but be responsible at the same time. Respect others and they will respect you. Well, they're suppose to, but sometimes people don't know how to respect others. They do not take time to think about what they are doing. They will run all over you with out even stopping. Those kind of people need to step back and look in a mirror at themselves.

Try to be a good person and look for the good in others. The more you smile, the more you'll be noticed. The good deeds that you do for people will come back to you one day. Everybody sees things in a different way, so don't think what is Okay for you, is Okay for someone else. Your little problem could be their big problem.

Column Seven

Hello Folks! I'm sitting back and relaxing. You know, letting the time pass by........dreaming and thinking about life, allowing my thoughts to go beyond the world. I'm removing all stress out of my mind and body.

It's so easy to get caught up in negative situations, in a society that's full of them. I dream of a place that is full of wonderful and beautiful things. A place where only good things happen. god only knows where that may be.

It's time for us to step back a step and look at ourselves. We have all gotten caught up in an attitude. Lets concentrate on getting happy, not even. Getting revenge on people will always come back to haunt you. What goes around, comes around. Just let things roll off your back and keep on going.

"Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones." That's from the Bible - Proverbs 16:24. I try to keep that in mind when talking to people. That's why we need to complement people. Sometimes your compliment could be the only thing to lift that person up. It makes people feel good to know that others notice little things.

We have come to the end of my wonderful column and I know that you have enjoyed it as much as I have. I am being positive, how 'bout you? Take care and God loves you! Remember to smile!

column six

There are a lot of positive things that I could talk about today. But I am going to discus a negative that I hope will bring a positive outcome, and that's DEPRESSION.

Depression: What a word? It's a hollow deep feeling that can strike us down at any given moment. It's a subject that needs attention. Many of us think that depression is easy to get over, but sometimes its not.

Depression is a serious illness. It may be temporary sadness, or a more severe, long-term depression. Either way we must not take things too lightly. Different situations arise from depression, like suicide or alcohol and drug abuse. People can snap at any time.

It is so easy to have a bad attitude about life in general. When one thing goes wrong, everything goes wrong. Or at least that's how it all seems. If you don't feel good about yourself, you are easily knocked down by depression. The better out look you have on life and your surroundings, the better you will feel about yourself. Lets face it the world is not going to change anytime soon. You must first seek out who you are and make yourself happy. Thats what really counts. Yu are the most important person and people around you, love you.

Everyone feels down sometimes, but if the mood last too long, it could be more than the "blues". A lot of times we deny being depressed and that just makes things worse.

Understanding depression will help us to know the difference between normal ups and downs and true depression. If you are depressed, I highly recommend weekly professional help. It helps to talk to someone who understands and won't criticize your problems.

Friends tend to criticize and think that you'll get over it. Some of them don't really listen to what you have to say. That's not fair to you. It is easier for some people to talk more openly and truthfully with a professional. A professional can help to understand why your feeling the way you do. Take the burden off your shoulders and talk to someone who cares.

When someone says they are going to kill themselves, take it serous. If a friend needs to talk, listen and care for them. Be a good friend. And God bless you!

Column Five

Hey, hey, hey!!! Are you ready for a positive attitude today? Stand back, let me through, I've got more excellent news for you! Get ready, get set, go!!! I'll race you to the end of this column!

I've read a lot of healthy magazines lately. All of them agree that being healthy brings on a better attitude. In other words, we need to slow down from our busy schedules to allow more time for sleep, exercise, and better eating habits.

Recent research states that eight or nine hours of sleep, uninterrupted, are considered the goal for most people. That's a goal that most of us can't meet. One of the biggest health problems in the U.S. is not getting enough sleep. I personally, on an average, get five to seven hours interrupted sleep. So, we all must strive to get our Z's.

Set aside at least a few minutes a day for quiet time. Daydream or imagine something big. Focus on happy thoughts or indulge in laughter. Do something that completely takes you off of your work or your problems.

Try to eat three square meals a day and maybe a small snack. Try to stay away from junk foods and foods with salt, fat, and sugar. If you are a healthy, balanced person, you will be more likely to have a higher self-esteem!

Learn from folks who already have a good attitude. Look at that person as a teacher or a mentor. You will find that the hours spent around a person with a good attitude will inspire you to try new things or to be a better person.

And just remember that you have good and bad points about yourself. We can't be perfect. You are yourself and I am, Me. Everyone of us is special and different in our own way. Accept people for who they are inside!

I have raced to the end of my column and few are here with me. Others are slacking behind, waiting for positive attitude to kick in.....anyway, have a great day and don't wait around, it might be too late! See ya and remember to smile! Look for my next column here on my blog.

Column Four

Hello....Ladies and gentlemen!! Here we are for another adventure in the land of positive attitude! I know that everyone read my last column and thought it was great! Now, that's what I call positive attitude!

Most people don't want to be at work, they would rather be somewhere else (Like fishing). Try to make the best of things and keep a positive attitude. A positive attitude is appreciated and it makes things easier. Supervisors depend upon the positive attitudes of employees to keep "Team Spirit" Alive. More work gets accomplished when people work together.

A positive attitude triggers enthusiasm, enhances creativity and can cause good things to happen. If the morning starts off bad, try your best to make the rest of the day better. Think positive and make an impact on your environment. Make a difference in someone's life. You can do it; have faith in yourself.

I know that at work, you can work hard and do the best job that you can. It's hard to be positive when no praise is given for a job well done. Don't get discouraged; One day, all of your hard work will pay off. Keep your head held high and your temper low. I just want to personally give each and everyone of you a pat on the back and commend you on a job well done!!

Stay positive and keep smiling!!

Column three

ATTENTION: Ladies and gentlemen! I have an important announcement! We are now entering "The Attitude Renewal Zone!" Hold on tight and get rid of all those negatives. Here we go!!

Is there anybody out there that is perfect? I don't think so, but there are people who are happy. People who are out going, refreshed, and confident. Those people do little things every day to renew their attitude.

A few ways to renew your attitude and confidence are listed below. Keep in mind, not every way is the right way for you.

Stop comparing yourself to others. Be yourself and don't let anybody steal your dreams. If you don't like something about yourself, then try to fix it. Go out and get a make-over, or buy some new clothes. Take a bubble bath or jump in the hot tub.

Are you stressed? Take a vacation!! Go to the beach or to the mountains. The river always relaxes me. I'm not telling you to run away from your problems. I am just telling you to take a break from it all. Just try to relax and have fun.

Do you like exercise? Who does, but working out is a great way to let out a lot of tension. Sometimes, just doing little work outs, make a difference. Go walking, running, swimming, hiking, etc. Lift the remote control or better yet, get up and turn the channels. Little things count!!

Have you ever thought about staring down your greatest fears? Fear cures fear. If there is something out there that has made you scared or unconfident, then that could be what is making you act the way you do. Try to get to the bottom of things. Take things one step at a time. Don't push yourself to do it, until you know you are ready to handle the consequences.

When you get upset, listen to calming music or a comedian. Just smile and give yourself a pep talk. Read a positive attitude book. Go to church. Do what ever makes you feel better about yourself. Drinking and taking drugs is not a good thing to do. That makes things worst for everybody!!

Take care of yourself and build your confidence up. You can do anything! Have faith and believe in yourself! Read my next column for more exciting ideas! Remember to smile!

Lets call this column two

It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood........have I got your attention? Today's word is: POSITIVE. Can you say POS-I-TIVE? I know that I am CRAZY and a little PSYCHO. Just remember that reading my column does not mean that you will go crazy or psycho. Lets get positive!!

Have you ever thought about how confident you are? Confidence and positiveness are two words that really connect. If you are confident; you're positive; and vise-versa.

In the dictionary, I have found several definitions for positive and confidence. Two of which I will share with you:

Positive: fully assured; confident. Confidence: stresses faith in oneself and ones powers without any suggestion of conceit or arrogance.

Try to be confident, but don't be over-confident. Over-confidence can make you seem to be conceited or arrogant. Be yourself and know that good things will happen if you are positive.

Being negative is not a forever situation. You can change your way of seeing things at any given time. I'm not saying that it will happen overnight. You have to work on it and set a goal for yourself. If you have a goal, you have something to reach for. Make your goals stepping stones until you reach the top of the horizon.

Keep a smile on your face and be happy to be alive!!

One of my published columns from a past work newspaper.

In order to have a positive attitude, we must think positively. For most of us, it is hard not to be 'negative' when every one is negative around us.

Since I've been reading positive attitude books, my outlook on things has changed somewhat. I often catch myself being negative about things and wondering if life is really this bad. Now I have realized that even the most negative situation has a brighter side.

I want to share some the knowledge that I have gained from these books. To the ones who wil actually read my column, I hope that you get information that will help you. I hope that it becomes useful in every situation. And please, use your knowledge well. One negative person can bring a whole army down, but one positive person can enlighten a crowd!

What is a positive attitude? A Positive attitude is the manifestation of the mind that dwells primarily on positive matters. It is a mind-set tipped in favor of creative activity rather than boredom; joy over sadness, hope over futility.

You can look at things in a good or bad way. Whichever way you decide to take things is up to you. Seeing things in a positive matter, makes all the difference in the world. If you look at your work in a negative way, then you will perform poorly. If you make your work fun, you will finish sooner and end up with better results. Your co-workers will become jealous and wonder what's going on! Soon, they will realize that having a better attitude will make the day go by faster.

Then, something strange happens; people convert negatives to positives! Productivity increases and people start liking their jobs again!! Wow!! A miracle in disguise....let's try this thing called positive attitude.

Until next time, KEEP SMILING!!
